“This is my most beautiful Christmas present!” exclaimed Kiel’s mayor Arthur Kahl as he unwrapped a picture volume with an accompanying inscription by Dr. Bantzer, Mayor of Kiel, Germany. Two students from Kiel University, Yogi and Dee, visited the town of Kiel, Wisconsin (population 3,000) during their trip through the Midwest of the United States.

Charismatic Hans-Jürgen (Mackie) Meyn, Chief Editor of excellent Kiel's Daily News (Germany's "Des Moines Register") had encouraged 'Dee & Yogi' to become freelance journalists. As their 'fatherly friend,' he also had to make sure that those happy impresarios would finish their college studies.
