Back in the early 1930s, with nationalism and ideologies that violated human dignity on the rise, RC Keokuk, Iowa, extended their collective hands to their Rotarian friends around the world in a series of 496 “Peace Pipe Letters.” Eighty-eight years later, RC Keokuk members are repeating this long forgotten and beautiful gesture with a current crop of peace pipe letters epitomizing international friendship and understanding. This new publication with 330 pages contains 196 letters from many Rotary clubs worldwide, which were written back to Keokuk, Iowa in 1931/32.
